What You Can Look Forward to in Baltimore
There's a lot to like about Baltimore, and one of our favorite things, believe it or not, is sleeping. While some airports offer little in the way of getting a comfortable forty winks in between flights, many travelers report that Baltimore is one of the best airports for getting some rest. Various soft, quiet corners have padded benches and narrow couches perfect for sleeping. Note that checkpoints do close at night, so keep this in mind if you plan on sleeping or availing yourself of some of the 24-hour dining options. The all-night eateries are only available landside. You can also get free WiFi in forty-five-minute sessions; just watch a commercial in between to refresh the service.
Minor Drawbacks
While you'll certainly find a lot of places to get some rest, some are better than others. Places like the observation deck, while quite dark, can also be noisy thanks to overhead announcements; consider earplugs. There's also a first class lounge available, though if you are an economy traveler, you'll have to pay a fee to utilize it.
We do not recommend settling in for some rest airside; the checkpoints close at night, and you'll be forced to go back to landside until they reopen. You have the option to increase your WiFi bandwidth too, but it is also a paid service.
A Variety of Shopping and Dining Experiences
The vast array of shops and dining establishments, as well as their flexibility, is another huge pro for the Baltimore airport. There are popular stores that will sell you news, periodicals, and books for a little pleasure reading, and there are a variety of other options including cosmetics, candy, and entertainment. There is duty-free shopping available too, open long enough to meet most customers' needs.
You won't go hungry with over a dozen options for food, including favorites like McDonald's. Subway and Dunkin' Donuts establishments are open 24/7 to accommodate late night passengers. Best of all, Baltimore doesn't add premium price markup to their food items.

If all of the above isn't enough to put your wandering soul at ease, you can even burn off the calories or nervous energy at either BWI's biker trail or hiking trail. If what you want is focusing on that inner peace, there's a meditation room available. The Gallery also hosts a children's play area, art exhibitions, and various aeronautical and space exhibits.
