Shows the Love
Dallas Love Field is closer, less expensive and easier to use. Situated in a prime location just six miles from downtown Dallas, the airport is easy to access. After undergoing extensive renovations, the terminal features a better assortment of shops and restaurants. These recent renovations also make it easier to walk around the airport. Along with Wi-Fi, the terminal boasts a surprisingly large number of power outlets and USB charging stations, many near the comfortable chairs in the departure areas. There are several pet relief areas and a pet park for those traveling with companion or service animals.
Love Brings Admirers
Because of its convenience and other benefits, Love Field is a popular airport from which to travel. The location has limited space in which to expand. As a result, the terminal can be very crowded during peak travel times, which means there will be longer lines at check-in counters and airport security check points. Add extra time to your travel plans to ensure that you do not miss your flight.
They Love Texas
You can immerse yourself in Texas culture. The terminal has several shops, such as Billy Bob's Texas and Famous Texas Boots, which offer a range of Texas- and Western-themed apparel, souvenirs and other products. The restaurants feature a variety of menus, including Tex-Mex dishes and Texas-style barbecue, from eateries like Cantina Laredo and Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Whataburger is a regional fast-food chain founded in Texas.
Love Can Be Fun
Art lovers can view a number of permanent and temporary exhibits throughout the terminal that showcase a variety of works by local and regional artists. They show the origins of the airport as well as the rich cultural history of the surrounding area. In addition to a special purpose gallery, public artworks adorn the floor, walls and ceiling. History buffs will enjoy reading markers throughout the airport that relay tidbits about the facility. Children can run and have fun in the Lil' Luv Lounge play areas.
Past and Future Love
Originally built as an Army airfield in 1917, Love Field served as the primary airport in the Dallas area until 1974 when Dallas/Fort Worth International was constructed. The airfield is named after Army aviator Moss Love who crashed in 1913. From its humble beginnings as a grass strip, Love Field now serves three major airlines and thousands of passengers each day. The airport's on-going modernization program ensures that the facility remains a convenient, state-of-the-art transportation hub with improved lobby and baggage claim areas, more concessions and better amenities that meet changing demands.
