Duke University in Durham is located 17 miles from RDU with a taxi ride costing passengers approximately $40. The area's main convention center in Raleigh is 20 miles away and will cost about $42 for a taxi ride. For public bus service from the Regional Transit Center, riders will want to take the GoTriangle Route 100 bus. Busses from all over the region service this transit center, making it easy to reach RDU from a variety of points in the Research Triangle. When returning to RDU, the bus can be picked up in Terminal 1 at Zone 1 and in Terminal 2 at Zone 17. Both bus and train stations are located in Cary, Raleigh, and Durham.

GETTING AROUND INSIDE RALEIGH-DURHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
Raleigh-Durham International Airport is divided into two terminals and three concourses. While the two terminals do not provide an airside connection, travelers can move between the two on a shuttle bus or choose to utilize the moving walkway connecting the covered parking decks with each terminal building.
As the newer of the two terminals, Terminal 2 features more services and restaurants than Terminal 1. Terminal 1 offers Mexican fare at Salsarita's Fresh Cantina, the savory selections at La Tapenade Mediterranean Cafe, and local burger joint Char-Grill. Sports fans will love hanging out at the ACC American Cafe, the first officially licensed restaurant from the Atlantic Coast Conference. This premium sports bar is a great place to catch the big game while enjoying a diverse menu of ACC favorites, including Boston Clam Chowder, Carolina barbecue, and Miami ceviche.
Over in Terminal 2, passengers will want to check out the Carolina Ale House for a family-friendly pub meal or Jason's Deli for a variety of sandwiches, salads, and loaded baked potatoes. Indulge in the region's freshest seafood at the 42nd St. Oyster Bar or pick up a brew from Gordon Biersch.
Active members of the military and their family members will enjoy the offerings of the USO lounge. This center is free of charge and offers a variety of amenities, including a television, reclining lounge chairs, a changing room, a children's play area, complimentary food and beverages, computers, video game consoles, and more. The center is located on the third floor of Terminal 3 near Starbucks.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available at RDU for up to 45-minutes. Boingo also serves the airport with a faster and more premium service at a rate of $4.95 per hour.
When looking for some peace and quiet, travelers have two choices at RDU. An on-site 24-hour chapel is located in Terminal 1 near the baggage claim area. Or passengers can choose to visit the Meditation Room, located in Terminal 2 near the ticketing lobby. This room is also open at all hours of the day.
Although not located on-site, an interesting feature of RDU is its Observation Deck. Visitors can watch the aircraft in action on the airport's longest runway. The park is conveniently located near the Air Traffic Control Tower as well as Park and Ride 2. In addition to the elevated lookout area, visitors will enjoy listening to the direct communication between the pilots and the air traffic control tower. A playground and picnic tables make this a relaxing place to hang out while in the area.
