Avengers is one of our favorites because we are massive Marvel fans here at ParkSleepFly.com. It is in almost all of the airlines, due to being one of the biggest blockbuster films of the summer. If you haven’t heard of this film, here is a trailer.

A Star Is Born

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are incredible in this film about the beginning of an artist’s journey. It was Lady Gaga’s film debut and she impressed both audience and critics with her performance. In addition to great storyline and acting, the soundtrack stole audiences hearts. The film also was heavily nominated and won an Oscar for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song). Trailer here to decide if this is a go for you in-flight viewing.

This was our favorite horror film of the year. Directed by Jordan Peele, this movie was bound to be amazing but it blew critics and audiences out of the water. It received 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. His use of metaphors was highlighted by many critics as the key that makes Peele’s horror work so genius. If you aren’t too afraid of jumping in your seat mid-flight, check out the trailer here.

The Favourite

The Favourite was a huge film this year. It is set in early 18th century England and focuses on Queen Anne and her court. All the drama and sometimes funny moments of court politics led to some of the best acting performances of the year. Olivia Colman plays Queen Anne and won an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role. The film also got rated “certified fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes at 93%. Coco

A Disney and Pixar masterpiece in our humble opinion. Coco has the perfect blend of rich colorful visuals and deep complex narratives that takes a family-friendly approach to profound questions of family, culture, life, and death. It is one of our personal favorite films of recent years and the audiences and critics agree, the film receiving a stellar 97% Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. It is a beautiful film, but be forewarned, it is a certified tear-jerker (grown humans have audibly sobbed during this film). Captain Marvel

Did we mention that we were Marvel fans? Captain Marvel is an amazing story of one woman becoming one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Brie Larson delivered an incredible performance as our Captain Marvel and we will continue to fangirl her accordingly. If you want to feel super inspired to save the world and activate your superpowers, we highly recommend this film. Catch the trailer here.

The Hate U Give

Spearheaded by a deeply impactful and breakout role from Amandla Stenberg, The Hate U Give is a hard-hitting film. It showcases that the young adult genre is prepared to discuss heavy societal themes and has more range than just magic and romance. Starr, played by Amandla Stenberg, witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. The film follows Starr’s experience of feeling pushed and pulled from all sides of the community as she strives to find her voice and to do what is right. The film is based on the critically-acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas. You can find the trailer here.

At Eternity’s Gate

Willem Dafoe plays Vincent Van Gogh in the brilliant At Eternity’s Gate. Dafoe did such an incredible job in the role that he was nominated for an Oscar, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. The film got the “certified fresh” seal of approval from Rotten Tomatoes with 80%. In a deeply impactful portrayal, Dafoe takes us through some of Van Gogh’s final days and moments.
