Traveling For Food

You haven’t truly lived until you’ve experienced new cuisine in a foreign country. There’s something so satisfying about breaking bread overseas and indulging in new scents, authentic flavors, and rich culinary experiences. Considering that most people usually eat three meals a day, food is a pretty important aspect to consider when making your travel plans. If you love food, why not devote your getaway to experiencing cultural meals in different parts of the world? If you’ve never traveled for the food before, read on for our favorite reasons why you should! Bon appétit!

1.) Discover new flavors

The number one reason why people should travel for the food is the discovery of new flavors. You don’t necessarily have to be a “foodie” to enjoy a local culture’s cuisine, though.  Everyone eats and you’d be denying yourself some amazing flavors if you don’t indulge in some local foods while you’re traveling the world. Some fruits, spices, and grains are only found regionally in small parts of the world so you’d never get to experience them outside of traveling to those areas.

Traveling with a Theme

Themed travel isn’t a new concept, but it wasn’t always the most popular slice of the travel pie. 20 years ago, you had to be downright fanatical to take a trip centered around pop culture themes like movies, books, TV shows or bands. But this concept of traveling with a theme has been steadily gaining traction in recent years thanks to movies like ‘Wild’ and ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ as well as the advent of tour companies that offer curated experiences for travelers suffering from tourism boredom.

Theme Idea: Explore (and camp!) the west coast in a classic car.

Now, there’s no shortage of themed trips to be had. You can take a trip centered around a hobby, event or just something you enjoy. You can do everything from a nudist cruise to a ‘Jurassic Park‘ trek through the jungle. Some people take road trips based around famous hamburger joints and others vacation at resorts featuring their favorite comedians. No matter where your interests lie, there’s a trip that’s perfect for you. Let us help you find it with our guide to traveling with a theme!

10 Places to Visit Before They Disappear

There are so many gorgeous places around the world that are worthy of the top spot on your traveling bucket list. But, there are a few locales, in particular, that should take priority due to their threatened status. Chances are good that these 10 places won’t remain spectacular for much longer. If any of the destinations on our list are also on your list, you better get moving on your plans to visit before they disappear forever!

1. Dead Sea, Jordan

This beautiful sea, located amidst the vast desert, is truly a sight to behold, but if you want to see it, you ought to book a trip soon. Experts don’t foresee the Dead Sea lasting more than the next 50 years, unfortunately. In just the past 40 years, over a third of the Dead Sea has disappeared after sinking over 80 feet. The Dead Sea gets its water from the River Jordan, which countries all around the sea are depleting, leaving the Dead Sea to dry out in the desert sun.

The Wanderlust Gene: Do you have it?

We’ve all heard the stories about people packing up their entire lives and moving across the planet to experience something brand new, sometimes in a country they’ve never set foot in before. And then we all know those people that would be terrified at the thought of that. Those people that have lived in the same house their entire lives and vacation in the same spot every year. So, what makes one person itch to get away while others are content staying in the same spot for all of their lives? Science may have finally figured out the obsession behind it: the wanderlust gene.

Wanderlust

1. What is Wanderlust?

Wanderlust. This German word, which means “a strong desire to travel”, has a lot more to it than a silly name. It’s the urge you get to whisk off somewhere new every few months. It’s the desire to feel the wind in your hair and the sand in your toes. It’s what drives you to research new destinations and maybe keep the TV set to the Travel Channel at all times. If you have wanderlust, you want to see every part of the world before you leave it. You want to explore cities and beaches, experience new and exciting cultures and meet friends you haven’t met yet. And it’s not just a mere desire. It’s a compulsion to travel and a thirst that can’t be quenched no matter how many spots on the globe you visit. No, wanderlust is not just a silly word. It’s a way of life.

With more corporations putting emphasis on healthy work-life balances, business trips have become quite more exciting. It’s a mini vacation on your employer’s dime, so it’s really no wonder this is a trend right now! Many companies now allow families to join employees for trips over long weekends and give employees the flexibility to roam. Thanks to modern-day technology and our ability to be constantly connected, workers spend less time chained to desks and conference centers and more time exploring new destinations.
