The travel experts at ParkSleepFly wanted to find out which of the most popular sunny destinations receive the most daily sunshine hours for the price of staying in a hotel. While the list doesn’t account for the cost of flights, food, and entertainment, it shows which of the world’s top holiday locations you can stay in to get the most sunshine for your money.
Topping the list for the cheapest destinations with the most sun is European destination Tirana, while the most expensive places to stay are Lahaina on the Hawaiian island Maui, Miami, and Belle Mare, Mauritius.
Albania

The cultural and economic hub of Albania is one of the most colorful places in Europe, now a far cry from the grey buildings that once characterized the city. Tirana is also one of the sunniest vacation destinations you can visit, getting on average 3,452 hours of sunlight per year, equalling around 9.5 hours of sunshine per day.

Bali, Indonesia

The capital of Bali is one of the most popular travel destinations on the planet and is the hub that connects the Thai island’s tourist hotspots.
One of the best locations for sun, the city sees on average 3,138 hours of sunshine per year and around 8.6 hours of sunshine per day. The price for a hotel room in Denpasar varies, although on average you can find a double room for $58 a night, meaning each hour of sunshine costs $6.78.
South Africa

With great weather all year round, Johannesburg is one of the top sunny vacation destinations in the world, attracting millions of tourists every year for its climate, wildlife, and culture.
Johannesburg gets around 3,334 hours of sunshine each year, meaning it gets on average 9.1 sunshine hours every day. With an average hotel price of $73 a night, each sunshine hour in the city costs around $8.02.
Maui, Hawaii

One of the priciest destinations on our list, a hotel room in Miami costs on average $370 per night. The city receives around 3,213 hours of sunshine per year, therefore gets on average 8.8 hours of sunshine per day, meaning each hour of sunshine in Miami costs $42.05.
Mauritius

The coastal location of Belle Mare, in the tropical paradise of Mauritius, is world-famous for its white-sand beaches and picturesque blue waters.
The sunny travel hotspot receives on average 2,565 hours of sunshine each year, therefore gets around 7 hours of sunshine per day. Hotel prices in the area are higher than most destinations on our list, at $102 on average for a night’s stay. At that price point, each hour of sunshine in Belle Mare costs around $40.71.

The average sunshine hours per year for each destination were sourced from Climate-Data.org. To calculate the average amount of sunshine hours per day for each location, we divided the average amount of sunshine hours per year by 365.
The average hotel cost per night was sourced from Kayak, and the figure for the average price of a double room for one night was used.
