TikTok is the latest social media platform to captivate audiences around the world, with content ranging from beauty hacks and viral dances to the most popular destinations for travelers, including national parks.   

Using TikTok we want to reveal the most popular national parks around the world, splitting them by US and UK as well as other parks around the world and ranking their popularity according to the number of views.

1. Yellowstone National Park: 630.3 million views

Encompassing an area of 3,468 square miles across the US states of Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, Yellowstone national park tops our list, 339 million views ahead of second place. With ample opportunities to explore the park on foot, or by car, bike, or boat, this park proves to be the most popular with TikTok tourists.

2. Denali National Park: 291.5 million views

This park in Alaska is home to Denali, the highest peak in North America, and houses roughly 400,000 visitors each year. With cars being restricted to only 15 miles of road from the park entrance, the best way to explore the region is to park at Fairbanks International Airport and take a bus that stops at one of the many lodges in the park. Being home to more than 650 species of flowering plants and 169 species of native birds, this park is one of the most photogenic on our list, coming in second place. 

3. Yosemite National Park: 279.8 million views

Boasting four million visitors a year, most travelers stay within the seven square miles of Yosemite Valley. It is surrounded by the famous El Capitan and Half Dome rock formations as well as Yosemite Falls, the highest waterfall in North America. With the park being home to such scenic wonders it’s no surprise visitors flock to document these dramatic Californian landscapes, taking it to third place on the list.

1. Kobuk Valley National Park: 124 views

The least popular park on our list is Kobuck Valley. Spanning 2,735.5 square miles it lies about 25 miles north of the Arctic Circle and is home to caribou, wolves, river otters, and beavers. This park is inaccessible by road, has no designated trails and visitors have to bring their own adventuring equipment. This makes it unpopular for all and the national park has the least amount of views for US parks on our list. 

2. Gates of the Arctic National Park: 997 views

The northernmost national park in the US, Gates of the Arctic National Park is also the least visited national park, receiving only 10,000 visitors in 2016, which could explain its low number of TikTok views. This park is also inaccessible by road and has no trails, campgrounds or visitor facilities in order to preserve its wild character and to protect the habitats of grizzly bears, wolves, and moose.      

3. Channel Islands National Park: 12,300 views

Comprising of five islands situated off the California coast, the Channel Islands National Park mainly hosts visitors in the summer months although migrating whales attract visitors in spring and winter. Popular activities also include kayaking through the complex sea caves the islands are known for.

1. Lake District National Park: 105.9 million views

The largest national park in England, the Lake District also takes in 16.4 million visitors a year, making it the most visited national park in England. Crowned a World Heritage Site in 2017, the park is home to Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England making it an attractive tourist destination for TikTok tourists.  

2. Peak District National Park: 86.1 million views

Situated mostly in the county of Derbyshire, and including parts of Greater Manchester, Cheshire Staffordshire, and South and West Yorkshire, this area was the first to be designated a national park in England. Known for its gritstone plateaus and wild heather moorlands, this wild and remote landscape proves to be an ever-popular location for TikTok videos, with 86.1 million TikTok views.       

3. Snowdonia National Park: 26.7 million views

This park boasts diverse and dramatic landscapes as it is home to all nine of the highest mountains in Wales, as well as 23 miles of coastline. So it’s no surprise that this park comes close to the top of the list. The English name for this area comes from the highest peak in the park, Snowdon.

Britain’s largest area of protected wetlands garnered the least views on our list. The park is known for its namesake, shallow lakes known as broads, creating a 120-mile network of navigable waterways. This makes the area a popular boating holiday destination as well as a habitat for many different species of birdlife. However, it proves unpopular for TikTok users. 

2. Pembrokeshire Coast National Park: 80,500 views

This 243 square mile section of the Welsh coast is one of the smallest national parks in the UK. Despite its small size, this park has a hoard of hidden gems, including 286 ancient monuments, 14 conservation areas, and 15 historic parks and gardens, as well as a 186-mile coastal path.   

3. North York Moors National Park: 462,500 views

Consisting of wild moors and deep valleys, this region is home to one of the largest areas of heather moorland in the UK. Covering an area of 554 square miles The park also offers sandy beaches and cliffs on the east coast of Yorkshire. Despite these dramatic landscapes, it ranks as the third least viewed national park on our list.

Yellowstone tops the list as the most popular national park in the world. Visitors are drawn to its highly photogenic and unique natural wonders, such as the hot springs and dramatic landscapes of forests, waterfalls and mountains.   

2. Denali National Park, USA: 291.5 million views

This national park encompasses 6 million acres of land home to jaw-dropping landscapes and abundant wildlife. This striking scenery makes it one of the most viewed national parks in the world, 12 million views ahead of third place.

3. Yosemite National Park, USA: 279.8 million views

This Californian national park ranks third on our list. Surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the park is recognised internationally for its granite cliffs, giant sequoia groves meadows and glaciers. These natural wonders all contribute to its camera-ready quality.

This park ranks lowest on our list of national parks globally. This park is one of the most inhospitable on our list with temperatures often dipping below 0. It also lies close to the arctic circle making it an unpopular choice of park for many, leading to its low number of views.  

2. Gwaii Haanas National Park, Canada: 822 views

This national park is located on a remote archipelago of 138 islands that lies 81 miles from the coast of British Columbia. Its landscape consists of deep fjords and rugged mountains, some of which reach 3,609 feet. The fact this island is so inaccessible could be the reason the view count for this national park is one of the lowest on our list.  

3. Gunung Mulu National Park, Borneo: 855 views

Located on the island of Borneo in Malaysia, Gunung Mulu is one of the least viewed national parks on our list. The UNESCO world heritage site is home to mountainous rainforests and famed for its networks of caves. Despite these stunning natural features it places in the bottom three for park views.
